 Level 1 Physician Coach Training

Level 1 Physician Coach Training is a path to earning an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential with the International Coaching Federation (ICF). Jeffrey M. Smith, MD, FACS, PCC, CEO of SurgeonMasters, serves as Director of Education and an ICF Mentor Coach.

In addition to the foundational 60-hour on-demand program, Level 1 Physician Coach Training includes the mentor coaching program and a final coaching exam. 

Objectives

  1. Coach peers to maximize their personal and professional potential in a way that’s consistent with their values and beliefs.
  2. Apply recognized coaching ethics and standards of professionalism in client-focused coaching relationships.
  3. Partner with clients to create mutual understanding of the coaching process, individual sessions, and long-term goals for the coaching relationship.
  4. Build trust and rapport with clients to maximize the benefit of the coaching relationship.
  5. Create a safe, supportive environment where sharing confidential information openly and honestly supercharges client potential.
  6. Practice active listening, powerful questions, paraphrasing, and other coaching core competencies to raise client awareness, generate insight, and brainstorm new ideas.
  7. Partner with clients in a coaching relationship to transform insight and awareness into moving forward action steps.

Program Structure

Start on demand at finish at your own pace! 

Physician Coach Training is structured in eight self-paced, on-demand coaching modules with LIVE practice coaching with physician colleagues. Participants engage in a deliberate practice cycle to develop their skill set.

Physician Coach Training Accreditation

International Coaching Federation

Physician Coach Training is an accredited Level 1 International Coaching Federation (ICF) coach training program for physicians and a pathway to becoming an Associate Certified Coach (ACC). Trainees develop professional coaching skills that enhance leadership, patient care, peer support, and more.  The program was founded by Jeffrey Smith, MD, FACS, PCC, Director of Education with Physician Coach Training and an ICF Mentor Coach. 

Continuing Medical Education

Amedco LLC designates this material for a maximum of 12.00 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM for physicians. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

About the Founder

Jeffrey Smith, MD, FACS, PCC

Director of Education and ICF Mentor Coach

 

Jeff is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with more than 1000 one-on-one physician coaching hours and 500+ hours of coach training experience.

He started his journey into coaching in 2012 looking for an exit strategy from his surgical career after 20 years of experience within academic and private healthcare systems, managing episodes of burnout from a demanding system and career.

After graduating coach training in 2013, and growing SurgeonMasters, Jeff is still clinically active, coaching other high performing surgeons, and training physicians coaches to fulfill a growing demand.
